Conversations Maps


CONVERSATION MAPS
Through the use of conversation maps, a cognitive coach mediates by having the teacher go through a series of steps that bring out the desired or needed information.  A Planning Map for Conversation would have the following:  clarifying goals; stating specific success indicators and plan for collecting evidence; anticipating approaches, strategies, decisions, and how to monitor them; establishing personal feeling focus and processes for self-assessment, and reflecting on coaching processes and exploring refinements.
A Reflecting Map for Conversation would have coaches mediate by having the reflector: summarize impressions and recall supporting information, analyze casual factors, construct new learning, commit to application, and reflect on the coaching process and explore refinements.
A Problem Solving Map for Conversation would: honor existing state, frame desired state, locate and amplify resources, check for congruence, and reflect on coaching process and explore refinements (Cognitive Coaching, 2012).
